“Bendable LED strip” can describe a bare light source, a flexible empty housing or a finished light. Those are different purchases. Before asking for a price for a curved line, identify which item the supplier is expected to deliver and which parts you already have.
A supplier needs more than the outline of the curve. Show the installation surface, the face the viewer will see, the connection positions and the space available for the assembly. A short section view often settles the supply question sooner than a long description of the desired effect.
Three Different Items Can Arrive From the Same Brief
| What you are buying | What arrives | What still needs confirmation |
|---|---|---|
| Flexible LED strip | A light source with its own circuit and connection arrangement | Permitted handling, support and any separate housing |
| Empty silicone tube or profile | A flexible housing supplied without the selected LED source | Strip fit, assembly method and finished appearance |
| Finished LED Neon Flex | A lighting assembly that includes its LED source | Exact configuration, connections, installation and permitted bends |
Start with LED strip lights for a separately supplied source, LED silicone tubes for an empty housing, or LED Neon Flex for a finished light. A flexible-looking exterior does not make these formats interchangeable.
Describe the Curve Without Asking the Product to Guess
Provide a plan view and a section through the mounting surface. Mark where the route changes direction, where it changes plane and where a lead or end piece needs space. If the curve is copied from an existing installation, include a physical reference or a dimensioned sketch.
Do not assume that a strip supplied on a reel can follow the same curve in every direction after installation. Use the selected product's drawing and handling instructions. Similarly, a silicone housing's flexibility does not establish what the completed lighting assembly may do.
The top-bend versus side-bend guide addresses the bend-plane decision for Neon Flex. Use it after identifying the required supply format. Do not carry a radius or bend description from another source, housing or completed light into the order.
Resolve Tight Corners Before Releasing the Cut List
Ask the supplier to review the most demanding part of the route first. That may be a small curve, a change of plane, a concealed joint or a cable exit immediately beside a support. A long easy curve elsewhere does not prove that detail is possible.
Where a continuous piece is unsuitable, discuss the documented segment and connection arrangement rather than forcing the sample into place. Add those interfaces to the cut list and review them with the connection details. Neither a joint nor a cut point should be invented to make the drawing fit.
An application illustration is useful for the visual brief, but it is not an approved bending instruction. Request a representative sample for the agreed product and mounting arrangement, and identify exactly which route details it demonstrates.
How AlisterTech Can Develop the Supply Proposal
AlisterTech works with lighting silicone profiles, separately supplied LED products and finished lighting formats. Send the information you have—an installation sketch, an existing strip or a physical housing sample—so the proposed supply can be defined around your actual assembly.
If an existing section fits, begin with that model and its documented configuration. If the mounting interface or housing geometry must change, review custom silicone extrusion. A custom section still needs its own source, connection and sample review; it is not permission to bend an assembly arbitrarily.
The manufacturing information shows processing and assembly contexts, and technical resources provide the starting point for model information. Include quantity, lengths, installation environment and any selected controller in the enquiry. Ask the quotation to separate the supplied source, housing, finished sections and accessories so there is no ambiguity at delivery.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does bendable LED strip mean the LED source is included?
Not necessarily. The enquiry may refer to a bare strip, an empty silicone housing or a finished light. State the required supply format explicitly.
Can a flexible strip follow a curve in every direction?
Do not assume that. Check the selected product’s permitted bend and handling instructions against the route and installation surface.
Is a curved silicone tube automatically a suitable finished light?
No. The source, internal fit, connections, mounting and permitted completed-assembly bends still need confirmation.
Can AlisterTech review a route before I have a final drawing?
Send the available sketch, photographs or sample with the fixed installation constraints. Further model and sample information may be needed before a supply proposal can be confirmed.
What must a curved-route sample prove?
Specify the product, critical curve, mounting and connection detail being evaluated. Keep the accepted reference with the order; do not extend approval to different bend planes or configurations.
