LED Strip Lights

SMD LED Strips

SMD LED strips use individual surface-mounted LED packages. Choose the complete strip around the light effect, electrical plan and space available in your installation.

Choose the Strip, Not Just the Package Code

Package names such as 5050, 2835 and 3528 describe LED formats, not a complete strip specification. They do not confirm the board width, LED spacing, voltage, colour, output or connector layout of a particular model.

Start with the exact strip reference if one exists. Otherwise, describe the light appearance and installation, then compare model-specific options.

When Individual Packages Matter

With an exposed strip, the LED positions may remain visible. In a profile or silicone tube, the diffuser depth, emitting surface and viewing distance affect how the finished light line looks.

Review a real sample in the intended assembly before making a final visual choice.

Details That Help Select an SMD Strip

Give the requirements you know. The selected model’s own data should confirm its operating limits and connections.

Light Colour & Appearance

State the required colour, whether the packages are exposed or diffused, and the normal viewing distance.

Strip & Enclosure Fit

Provide the available board width and depth, profile or housing, installation route and intended fixing method.

Supply & Connections

Show the planned supply and control arrangement, run length, cable exit and connection method. Match contacts to the selected strip.

Standalone Strip or Finished Lighting Product?

AlisterTech supplies LED strips as separate products as well as finished LED Neon Flex. If the strip will be integrated into a silicone tube, send both the strip reference and profile dimensions so the assembly can be reviewed together.

Check the Interface

Connector selection depends on the exact strip contacts and the space around the joint. Pin count alone does not establish compatibility.

Questions About SMD LED Strips

Use the selected strip and installation details to confirm the right configuration.

Do 5050 and 2835 identify the full strip model?

No. These labels refer to LED package formats. Request the complete strip data for electrical and installation decisions.

Does an SMD strip need a diffuser?

That depends on the intended appearance and viewing position. Compare a sample in the actual profile or enclosure.

Can an SMD strip go inside a silicone tube?

Possibly, if the selected board, components, bend route and connections fit the tube and complete assembly.

Are all SMD strips electrically interchangeable?

No. Compare the selected model’s voltage, contact layout, control arrangement and operating requirements.

What should I provide for a model recommendation?

Send the light colour, installation dimensions, supply plan, quantity and any existing strip or housing reference.
