COB LED Strip Connector: Get the Contact Detail Right Before Ordering

Concept illustration of a COB LED strip contact end beside a separate clip connector and silicone housing
Connection-planning concept; not an approved connector fit.

A COB LED strip connector quotation should start with the strip end, not a photograph of a similar clip. The supplier needs to know where the contacts sit, how the board is finished and what space remains around the completed joint. Board width and contact count are only part of that decision.

For a purchasing team, the most useful first attachment is a clear close-up of the exact cut end beside a dimensioned product reference. Add a side view if the strip has a coating or must enter a silicone housing. This gives the supplier something concrete to check before proposing a connection.

Send a Contact Reference, Not Just “COB”

COB identifies a source construction, not a universal connector interface. Two strips described as COB may have different board dimensions, contact positions or end treatment. A connector should be reviewed against the selected source and its documented preparation method.

Start with the COB product family and identify the actual variant. The AL528 reference is a published product starting point; it does not establish compatibility with every connector marketed for a nominally similar board.

Attach to the enquiryWhat the supplier needs to resolve
Source model and clear cut-end photographActual contact pattern and intended connection point
Board dimensions and side viewMechanical opening, thickness and coating clearance
Circuit and channel identificationContact assignment for the selected source
Required connection roleStrip-to-wire, strip-to-strip or another defined arrangement
Housing section and installation viewSpace for the connector body, lead and service access

Include the strip maker's preparation instructions when available. Do not remove coating or modify a contact area simply to make an unconfirmed connector close. Ask what preparation the proposed part requires and whether it is documented for that strip.

Decide What the Joint Has to Do

A lead leaving a silicone profile creates a different packaging problem from a straight joint between two exposed strips. Mark the actual location on the installation drawing. Show which surfaces remain accessible after assembly and whether the cable has room to leave without loading the contact.

If you need a cable between two sections, define both ends rather than assuming the same fitting belongs at each one. The connection preparation guide identifies the source information needed at each end. The connector types guide remains the overview for connection roles.

Do not infer an environmental rating from the appearance of a transparent clip or from a rated strip. Request the documentation for the completed joint and assembly where exposure matters. A covered contact and a verified sealed connection are different purchasing statements.

What an AlisterTech Connector Review Can Establish

AlisterTech's accessories page lists existing connection and mounting references. AL0201 and AL0401 illustrate particular contact formats; they are not universal COB compatibility declarations. Send your actual source reference before asking either pictured part to be included in an order.

The strip, connection and silicone housing can be reviewed as a proposed assembly. Where the installation interface requires a different section, custom extrusion addresses the housing geometry. It does not make an electrically unsuitable connector compatible.

The manufacturing information shows the assembly context, while technical resources provide an entry point for model documents. Ask the quotation to name the proposed part, matching source and any outstanding fit or sample check.

Release a Connection Reference With the Order

Before ordering repeat quantities, agree what the sample represents: the exact source, prepared end, connector, cable exit and housing. Keep an identified reference and record which fit and function checks have actually been accepted. A successful demonstration on a different strip does not approve your purchase.

Send the strip-end photographs, source specification, connection location and quantity to request a defined proposal. If a suitable part is not established, have that gap stated before the accessory is added to the order.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are COB LED strip connectors universal?

No. Confirm the exact board, contact pattern, coating, circuit and required joint before selecting a connector.

Is a matching board width enough to choose a connector?

No. Contact position, board thickness, preparation method, electrical arrangement and installation space also need review.

Are AL0201 and AL0401 guaranteed to fit my COB strip?

No universal fit is established. Send the source and cut-end details so the proposed part can be checked for the actual assembly.

Does a covered connector make a joint waterproof?

Do not assume that. Request applicable documentation for the completed joint and its intended exposure.

What should I send to obtain a connector quotation?

Provide the source reference, cut-end and side-view photographs, relevant dimensions, connection role, housing detail and required quantity.
