High Density LED Strip: Specify the Layout Before You Order

Layout concept illustration; not a measured density or brightness comparison.

A high density LED strip is a layout choice that needs a complete product reference. A request for “more LEDs per metre” leaves the supplier guessing about the light source, board size, electrical row and finished appearance. Put those decisions together before comparing prices.

If you are buying for a shallow display detail or a directly visible line, send a section of the proposed installation with the enquiry. The useful question is whether a documented strip and housing combination gives the required result—not which reel carries the largest density number.

Give the Density Figure a Product Reference

Ask whether the stated count refers to LED packages, chips or another source convention. Compare it with the catalogue description of the exact construction. A COB figure and an SMD package count do not, by themselves, establish equivalent light output or an interchangeable strip.

AlisterTech's COB LED strip range includes a published 528 LEDs/m reference with a 10 mm PCB. Use the AL528 product page to identify that source family and confirm the selected variant. Those catalogue references do not specify every colour, wattage or cut interval a buyer might request.

For discrete packages, compare the SMD product family and its actual rows. The SMD package guide explains the different question of package size and strip construction.

Build a Quote Comparison That Can Be Checked

Put on the same comparison sheetWhy it matters to the order
Source family and exact configurationPrevents a density label from replacing a product identity
Count definition and layoutMakes the quoted density interpretable
PCB width, component envelope and connectionsEstablishes what must fit inside the assembly
Voltage, documented power and cutting intervalIdentifies the electrical and length arrangement being purchased
Colour reference and intended diffuserConnects the source to the appearance sample

Do not copy a power figure from a similar reel to complete a missing row. Ask the supplier to identify it for the quoted configuration. If power or light output is the deciding issue, use the separate brightness comparison guide rather than treating LED count as a brightness rating.

Define What the Sample Has to Demonstrate

An appearance sample should include the chosen source, diffuser or silicone housing, mounting detail and viewing position. Decide whether the buyer will judge a directly viewed line, a reflection or light on merchandise. A bare strip on a desk cannot stand in for all three.

If the purpose of the higher-density request is to hide individual points, put that objective in the sample brief. Agree the actual viewing distance and surrounding material; do not turn “dotless” into a guarantee based only on count. The diffusion guide covers the optical comparison, while the strip-to-profile guide covers physical fit.

Ask what the supplied sample represents. A light-appearance approval does not automatically approve electrical limits, environmental suitability or a different production configuration. Keep these decisions identifiable in the order records.

Use AlisterTech's Product and Assembly Review Together

AlisterTech supplies LED strips alongside silicone lighting housings and finished LED Neon Flex. That gives a buyer separate routes for a source-only requirement and a completed light. Tell us which one is needed before requesting a density-based quotation.

For a housing you already use, attach its section drawing and the source details. If the installation needs a different section, custom silicone extrusion can be reviewed against the drawing or sample. Custom housing development does not establish that an unspecified high-density LED configuration is available.

The manufacturing page and technical resources show where to review the processing context and supporting product information. For the quotation, send the exact source reference, installation section, required light appearance, lengths and quantity. Ask the response to list the supplied components and any sample or document still required before release.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does high density LED strip mean on a quotation?

It describes a closely populated source layout, but the quotation should state the actual count convention and product configuration. The phrase alone is not a full specification.

Does a higher LED count guarantee a continuous-looking line?

No. Review the selected source inside the intended diffuser or housing from the actual viewing position. Count alone does not confirm the visible result.

Can I compare COB and SMD strips using the count alone?

No. Identify how each count is defined and compare the complete construction, electrical data, dimensions and appearance sample.

Which AlisterTech product can I use as a starting reference?

The published AL528 COB family is one starting reference. Confirm its exact variant and order requirements rather than extending its published density or PCB width to other strips.

What should be approved before ordering repeat quantities?

Identify the source configuration, supplied components, representative sample and applicable documents. Record which appearance, fit and electrical requirements have actually been confirmed.
